VIO Outputs as NDI sources

July 6, 2021

Introduction

Starting in Cablecast 7.3 you are able to set your VIO server outputs to also be NDI sources. This is a very useful feature that will allow you to monitor your server outputs on other devices or monitors that support NDI. A good example of a use case would be to have the Server's NDI sources be inputs on your Multiviewer so that you can monitor them without needing to run extra SDI cables or use converters.

Setup

Turning this feature on is easy! On the VIO video server you will need to open the VideoServer Config Tool application by double clicking on the icon on the desktop of that server.

This will open a new window that allows you to set the I/O configuration of your VIO server and set the resolution. Depending on how many outputs your server is set to, you will see options for each output. Right below where you would set the resolution for that output is a check box for NDI Enabled. Check that box to have that VIO server Output create an NDI stream.

After you set which outputs you want NDI enabled on, click the Apply button at the bottom of the window. You can then close out of this window and start using your new VIO Outputs NDI sources.
