Cablecast Members and Access Restrictions for Internet Channel Content

Cablecast Members

Members allow you to give users access to content restricted from public view. Members can be manually added or are automatically synced after Stripe payments complete.

Adding Members

Navigate to Settings - Members

This screen displays a table of your current members and gives the ability to create, edit, and delete them.

Members Table

Members can be added one at a time by clicking Create Member. Input their name and email address in the dialog box.

Wildcard Emails

Instead of manually inputting the email address of every user in your organization, simply add one user with a wildcard email. For example, adding a member with the email *@cablecast.tv will give access to any user with an email ending in the same domain.

If adding members individually sounds too cumbersome, Cablecast supports the bulk addition of members through CSV files.

CSV Upload

Click Upload CSV.

The CSV uploaded must contain headers matching the ones in the template, although order does not matter. You can download the template as a starting point.

Add Members will add any new members from the CSV to your members table.

Replace Members will remove all manually added members before adding new members from the CSV.

Stripe Members

The last way members can be added is through Stripe. Check out this article to learn more about how to configure Cablecast with Stripe payments. When a user pays for a subscription through Stripe, they become a member. Members added through Cablecast's Stripe Integration appear automatically and cannot be edited.

Access Restrictions on Internet Channel Content

Placing access restrictions on your Internet Channel content is as simple as making a Saved Show Search and checking a few boxes!

Access Control Settings

Navigate to Internet Video - Restrict Access

Toggle Enable Access Restrictions on and select a Show Saved Search from the Restricted Saved Show Search dropdown.

Now any shows in that search will require a membership to view.

Internet Channel Restrictions

We can also configure an Internet Channel to be fully members-only or have a members-only live stream.

Navigate to Internet Video - Internet Channels - Public Site Edit - Site Content Tab

Check the Site Restrictions box to make the Internet Channel members-only. This means users will be prompted upon entry to view your site.

Check the Live Stream Restrictions box to make the live stream members-only.

Members-Only Content

Here is how the members-only content flow looks from the user's side.

First, the user finds a restricted show they want to watch.

Content Restriction Dialog on Public Internet Channel

The user inputs their email. If they are a member, they will receive a secure link to view the show.

Now they can view the show!
