Release Date: March 16, 2022

Cablecast 7.4.10 is the fourth maintenance release of the 7.4 series. We know, we skipped 7.4.8. It’s a story, don’t ask. The good thing is we aren’t running out of numbers any time soon, we checked. 7.4.10 brings several stability improvements to VIO and Flex video servers, as well as continued bug fixes and improvements to fast-growing Cablecast, Closed Captioning. The Cablecast User Interface also has a new zing in its step with some speed improvements in the Autopilot Reports and Schedule UI's. Finally, Cablecast CG has two brand new features, Bulletin Audio, and Repeating Bulletins. Read the full release notes below to learn more.

  • CC-1886 Repeating Bulletins - Bulletins That Display On Their Own Schedule In Bulletin Rotation
    • CablecastCG now supports bulletins with repeat interval. Bulletins with repeat interval are removed from normal rotation and displayed every n normal bulletins where n is the repeat interval for the bulletin. For example a station could use a repeat interval of 5 to put a you are now watching bulletin every 5 bulletins.
  • CC-2195 Allow Transition Section Between Bulletins In CablecastCG
    • The transition between bulletins can now be changed. The two choices are a hard cut or a crossfade
  • CC-2304 Bulletin Audio - Allow Playing Audio Clips Attached To Image Bulletins
    • Audio file can now be attached to image and template bulletins. These audio files will override the bulletins dwell time setting and will play as the audio during the bulletin. This feature is great for adding an audio description to bulletin content for seeing impaired viewers.
  • CC-2745 Clean Up Log Messages About Cablecast Cloud Services Check In
    • Reduced the amount of times a message was logged when Cablecast failed to check in to Cablecast Cloud Services when Cablecast Cloud Services is not configured on a system.
  • CC-2845 Allow Autopilot To Send To End Of Current Day
    • Fixed a logic check that prevented an Autopilot from being sent till the end of the current day.
  • CC-2864 Improve Autopilot Status Messages
    • During an autopilot send the UI will now update with helpful status messages as the send progress from stage to stage.
  • CC-2890 Cablecast Closed Captions Can End Early For Live Events
    • Fixed an issue with live transcription where Cablecast Closed Caption would not properly handle transitioning audio streams resulting in early termination of the transcription.
  • CC-2905 Long Load Times for Autopilot Reports/Messages in Cablecast 7.4
    • Fixed longer than usual Autopilot report load times on larger systems.
  • CC-2908 Cablecast Video Server Engine Can Hang When Stopping Certain Files
    • Fixed an issue where stopping certain files would cause the video server to hang resulting in failed playback until error detection restarted the video server engine. As part of this fix the error detection routines were also improved to detect this type of failure faster and recover sooner.
  • CC-2943 Cablecast Closed Captions Now Clear Current Caption Data Present In Signal When Inserting Captions
    • Previously when live captioning Cablecast would inject captions along side of any caption data already present in the video signal being captioned. This could lead to corrupt caption streams. Cablecast will now clear any caption data present in the signal only when Cablecast Closed Captioning is active. When not active all existing caption is preserved and passed through.
  • CC-2953 Schedule Performance Improvements
    • Fixed some performance bottlenecks in the schedule UI to allow loading schedule data more efficiently. This leads to less database contention and improves performance eliminating a certain class of issues that could lead to scheduling errors.
