Cablecast 7.2.10 Release

April 27, 2021

Release Date: April 27, 2021

7.2.10 addresses various encoding stability and performance improvements for VIO and Flex servers. It also addresses some Channel Branding, CablecastCG, closed caption, VOD, and Cablecast automation bugs. Plus many other improvements to Cablecast, the installer, and background housekeeping tasks.

All Release Notes:

  • CC-1698 Corrupt Cache Files Cause CG Startup and Playback Errors
    • Fixed an issue where a cache file used to store the Cablecast server's address could become corrupt and lead to failures starting CG playback.
  • CC-1927 Channel Branding Editor Does Not Show Correct Options For Crawl Text
    • Fixed an issue where the Channel Branding Editor would not show the font size control. This would prevent users from adjusting the font size. Additionally text options that can not be applied to crawl such as strikethrough were removed.
  • CC-2086 Browser Error Message Incorrectly Displayed In VOD Player
    • Removed a browser compatibility error message that was incorrectly displayed during loading of VOD content.
  • CC-2119 Network Encodes Get Stuck If Source Goes Into Standby
    • Fixed an issue where audio property changes caused by a Network Stream in standby would cause network encodes of that source to get stuck.
  • CC-2122 Fixed Rendering Of CableDisplay Bulletins Where Show Record Has No Custom Fields
    • Previously shows that were never edited and saved after migrating from versions before 6.4 would not be able to render in CableDisplay bulletins due to a failure to load custom field data.
  • CC-2143 VOD Data Can Be Corrupted When Saving Show In Multiple Tabs
    • Previously it was possible to open a show record in two browser tabs and then enable VOD in both and save. This would create two VOD records and lead to VOD processing errors.
  • CC-2157 Flex Video Server Crash With Loss of Input Signal
    • Fixed an issue where rapid resolution switching between SD and HD resolutions would cause an application crash.
  • CC-2163 Systems Behind Port Forward To Different Port Do Not Redirect Correctly
    • Fixed an issue where systems behind a port forward would fail to load the Cablecast UI when redirected.
  • CC-2186 CablecastCG Public Site Bulletins Are Not Sorted Correctly
    • Fixed an issue with displaying the CablecastCG where bulletins were not displayed in the order set in CablecastCG.
  • CC-2187 AFD Changes Are Not Accurate
    • Fixed an issue where AFD codes would change early, before the first frame of content. This would negatively effect the scaling of on air content.
  • CC-2194 Autopilot Can Throw Reservation Error For Passthroughs
    • Fixed Autopilot errors created by certain passthrough scenarios where there was a mix of live passthrough content and manual encodes scheduled at the same time.
  • CC-2196 Issues Creating Autoscheduled Network Encodes
    • Fixed an issue where the encode device and network stream selection would not be saved when creating Autoscheduled network stream encodes.
  • CC-2205 Encodes Unusable If Video Server Engine Is Stopped Before Encode End
    • Changed how mp4 encodes are written to disk to periodically update the mp4 header as new video frames and audio samples are written to disk. This enables the files to be usable even if the video server process is ended before the file is finalized.

Additionally files are now encoded into a temporary sub directory in the content folder to prevent file locking issues caused by network shares.
  • CC-2211 Some Digital Files Can Get Stuck in Processing
    • Fixed an issue extracting metadata from certain file types that would cause a processing failure. This would lead to files being stuck in processing indefinitely.
  • CC-2230 System Archive Status Is Not Correct
    • Fixed the System Archives screen in System Settings to display the correct status for nightly archives.
  • CC-2231 Default For System Archive Retention Is Too High
    • Reduced the default retention for system archives from 30 days to 7 days.
  • CC-2421 L Bar Channels Don't Scale
    • Fixed an issue where L-Bar channels were not scaled if the CG channel did not match the video servers output resolution.
  • CC-2242 VOD Closed Captions Do Not Work In Internet Explorer
    • Fixed an issue displaying closed captions in IE browser.
  • CC-2263 File Trimming Does Not Work With Source Files On Network Storage
    • Fixed an issue where digital files located on network storage could not be loaded when trimming the file in the Show Record.
  • CC-2264 Pausing Encodes Can Create Files That Fail To Transcode For VOD
    • Fixed an issue where files encoded by the video server that were paused for a period of time would fail to transcode to VOD.
  • CC-2266 Allow File Uploads To Recover From Transient Network Failures
    • Improved digital file uploading so if a transient network error happens and causes a segment to fail, the segment will be retried. If a segment fails multiple times an error message is displayed to the end user.
  • CC-2277 DigitalFile Filter In Saved Searches Does Not Filter Correctly
    • Fixed an issue where saved searches using the Has DigitalFile filter would not correctly filter manually linked files.
